Of all the shows on TV, some of the HBO specials have been among the greatest shows to watch. Among those, the show that introduced me to Kevin McKidd was Rome. Incredible series. Sadly it was canceled after two seasons and buzz is saying that HBO is starting to feel the sting that they pulled the plug too soon.
So now the plan is to wrap up Bruno Heller’s vision in a feature film event.
Cinematical quotes Heller:
“I discovered halfway through writing the second season the show was going to end,” Heller said. “The second was going to end with death of Brutus. Third and fourth season would be set in Egypt. Fifth wa... |

EMPIRE AVENUE, PARK CITY
Would you knowingly choose to lock yourself in a room with Mike Tyson for 30 hours in the name of cinema?
I’m back in the warmth for a few brief moments before heading off to my next screening. Just moments ago I left a screening of “Tyson,” a brutally frank, no-holds barred documentary about the life of former world heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson. Winning standing ovations from the audience tonight as well as those at the Cannes film festival last May, this film definitely opens your eyes to the soul of a unique and frightening individual. From director James Toback, “Tyson” trac... |

Thanks for checking out our Frost/Nixon Review
There is something about historical films that I just can’t resist… especially modern history that may be JUST before my time. Movies about events I had always heard about but didn’t really know a lot about. I find these sorts of movies fascinating for different reasons, but political ones get me the most interested. So it really shouldn’t surprise you to know that I had been looking forward to seeing Frost/Nixon very much.
I’ve always known about Richard Nixon, the only President in the history of the United States to resign the presidency. I’ve always kno... |

EGYPTIAN THEATRE, PARK CITY
I’m now awaiting the dimming lights of my fifth screening of the day. It’s amazing how doing little other than seeing movies all day can completely wear you down. Today I had five films. Tomorrow I have six. That’s going to be interesting, since two of them are back to back in completely different locations. We’ll see how my sprinting skills shape up against the thin air of 6,000 feet someone like myself who lives at sea-level is unaccustomed to. Part of the Sundance experience.
Before landing myself here at the Egyptian I caught the world premier screening of “Spread,” a ne... |

New Underworld 3 Poster

I enjoyed the first Underworld movie, but didn’t think it lived up to it’s potential. I really disliked the second Underworld film and felt it built on the weaknesses of the first film instead of the strengths. However, I’ve been very enthusiastc about Underworld 3 ever since I read the synopsis this past summer. I loved the trailer… and now, I dig the poster. Rhona Mitra is so delicious. Screw Beckinsale.
